Your new year toolkit

All

Whatever your goals or intentions are for 2019, here are our top tools to help you kickstart the new year, and to continue to be supported throughout!

1. UNLOCK YOUR INNER WISDOM

“The answers to life, the universe and everything are on the inside, all you’ve got to do is listen in to activate them” – Kate Taylor, Empowerment Coach.

The first (and most powerful place) to start, in our opinion, is always from the inside. You’ve got all the power and knowledge that you need right now to learn and grow from the past, and to forge the way for the future! Our key technique is to combine reflection with planning. What have you experienced, and how can you use that information to create and plan the life you want to live?

Try it:

The 2019 Activation Coaching Bundle is the ultimate toolkit for designing and actioning a life you love in 2019 and beyond! The Goodbye 2018, Hello 2019 journal is an end-of-year guide that helps you to say a proper farewell to 2018 as it comes to an end, and to create a vision and a plan for the year to come. Through a series of questions and exercises, you’ll be guided to get clear on the life you want to live in 2019, the dreams you want to bring to life, and a simple plan of how you’re going to make it all happen. The Practical Magic Activation Deck is your personal life coach in a box, helping you to bust procrastination and create new strategies. This deck of 56 vibrantly illustrated cards comes with a guide book full of exercises, visualisations, meditation downloads, videos and playlists. Pull a card and follow the guided exercises to activate your next step.

2. GET YOUR ‘TEAM’ IN PLACE

“I always make sure I have some sort of ‘team’ in place that is independent of my life – people like therapists, coaches, wellbeing practitioners – that I can draw from to keep me on track. This means that a) I stay emotionally healthy (like having a fitness trainer but for the mind and soul), and b) I don’t dump all my stress onto other areas of my life, or worse try to get people/things to rescue me!” – Dr. Helen Johnson, founder of Goddess Acumen.

Somethings we just can’t do on our own, and it is often much more inspiring to draw on the experience and skill of other people. Whether you are seeking support in untangling what is holding you back, support to find the direction you want to take, or you wish to draw on some expertise when life gets hard, it is always helpful to have a network of fantastic practitioners to support you.

Try it:

The Goddess Acumen Discovery Session is like a spa day for your mind! Perfect if you are looking to kick-start change and to start listening to the strongest and most authentic part of yourself (instead of feeling lost and disconnected). This coaching and alternative therapy course with Dr. Helen Johnson will help you to take stock, pause, and reconnect, gain a fresh perspective and clarity, and clear the negative energy that is dragging you down.

The Motherheart Introductory Healing Session is a deeply immersive clearing and restorative 1hr 20mins therapy session with certified healing practitioner, Joanne Bradford. This session starts with a brief check-in, a detailed exploration of your challenges and then the release of trapped emotions using EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), followed by sound therapy work for integration and rebalancing.

3. PRACTICE SELF-CARE

“Let’s be crystal clear: self-care is nourishment for the head, the heart and the body. The mantra is: self-care is health care. To further clarify the concept, self-care is an action or skill that nourishes you in the moment AND the person you are becoming, your ‘future self’ if you like” – Suzy Reading, Life + Me’s Wellbeing Psychologist.

Often self-care is thought to be all about pampering, indulgence and ‘treating’ yourself with expensive activities. This is simply not the case in our view. Self-care is about creating simple, nourishing practices that are both mindful and self-nourishing – as well as having small ‘strategies’ in place to help you in difficult times, in the moment. First and foremost it is about asking the question ‘What do I need?’, and then creating a toolkit of simple things that support you. Like most things, it is also about creating that time for yourself, the time to spend on YOU. Non-negotiable.

Try it:

The Self-Care Revolution by psychologist Suzy Reading is packed with smart habits and simple practices to allow you to flourish. Based on the latest scientific research into the building blocks of wellbeing, it offers a complete mind, heart and body toolkit for taking care of yourself when times get tough. Using Suzy’s Vitality Wheel, you can pick from a selection of eight evidence-based ways to boost happiness, energy and resilience, and each section includes power poses from yoga that enhance and build on the practical advice.

The Positive Planner is a traditional journal meets DIY therapist. A 12 week journal and planner dedicated to self-care, it has sections for daily reflections, a weekly mood tracker and mindfulness activities, as well as everyday organisational extras such as meal planners and shopping lists. It is designed to be a one-stop-shop for organising yourself and most importantly, improving your mental health and wellbeing.

4. USE MANTRAS

“A mantra is a powerful phrase, designed to make a positive impact on the way that you feel. It can bring motivation, strengthen resolve and give focus. Most powerfully, a mantra brings self-belief” – Jo Stroud, founder of Mantra Jewellery.

A mantra or affirmation can be a quote you have read or heard, a piece of advice someone has given you, or simply a word that has meaning for you. It can also be used to reset and refocus your attention on what truly matters, used as a prompt, guide or reminder. We use our mantras and affirmations as a morning intention setting exercise, as a reminder in moments of stress or overwhelm, or to guide us in decision making.

Try it:
Mantra Jewellery creates a timeless and very personal way of being inspired by your mantra. Designed to have a positive effect on how we feel, repeating a mantra uplifts us; it reassures and motivates us. Hold your necklace from time to time throughout the day and repeat its mantra when you need motivation or inspiration.

A Life More Inspired Affirmation Cards are daily reminders of inspiration, weaving positivity into your everyday. Affirmations are powerful. You’ve heard the saying thoughts become things, right? Well affirmations help you to channel your thoughts. It is one of the easiest ways to do some deep soul work. Whether it is first thing in the morning to set you up for the day or if you need help with a challenging situation, you can pick a card and know that its message is exactly what you need to hear.

5. TAKE THE TIME TO WORK IT OUT

“We all have our monsters of the mind, and left to their own devices, those destructive parts of the personality can keep us down. But it doesn’t have to be that way. In fact, those very same parts of our personality could hold the key to a more exciting, successful and connected life. We just have to make friends with them first” – Hazel Gale, author of FIGHT.

Linking back to unlocking and utilising our own inner wisdom, taking the time to work though our challenges – using tools and techniques that help us to do so – is by far the most effective and empowering way to take control of our personal wellbeing. When we feel challenged, overwhelmed or simply like ‘we just don’t have the answer’ working through our own thought processes and learning about our limiting beliefs (unlocking our mind) can be just the answer we are looking for!
